Boys prepare to perform during the first-ever Kona Marshallese Constitution Day held Thursday at Kealakehe High School in North Kona. The event, though held at the end of May, celebrates the May 1, 1979, signing of the constitution establishing formally the self-governing country. Scores of people from around the Big Island came together to celebrate the unique traditions, culture and heritage of the Marshallese Islands. Attendees also had the opportunity to meet first-hand with an array of agencies and service providers.
